 Dr. Nicola Pohl, President and Cofounder— professor and Caldwell Chair of Chemistry at Iowa State University. She received her B.A. degree from Harvard College and her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997. Following an NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University she joined the faculty at Iowa State University in the fall of 2000 to study protein biocatalysts, synthetic methods, and carbohydrates. In April 2008, Dr. Nicola Pohl established LuCella Biosciences in order to commercialize the technology discovered in her academic lab.

Dr. Beatrice Collet, Principal Scientist and Cofounder—former postdoctoral research scholar at Iowa State University. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Rennes (France) and her Ph.D. in carbohydrate chemistry from the Centre for Carbohydrate Chemistry at the University of East Anglia (England) in 2006 under the supervision of Prof. Rob. Field. She is the winner of a Technology Commercialization Fellowship for 2008-2009 and started working full-time for LuCella on September 2008.
